The Nagpur police crime branch has successfully cracked down on thieves and burglars, solving a total of nine cases in two separate operations, providing relief to the citizens. In the first operation, two burglars were apprehended and seven cases were resolved. This crackdown comes as part of the city police's heightened efforts to combat vehicle thefts and burglaries, addressing growing concerns among the residents. An example of their success is illustrated in a recent case where cash and valuables worth Rs6.54 lakh were stolen from Mukesh Nipani's residence in Vaishali Nagar. Pachpaoli police initiated an investigation, leading the crime branch to launch a parallel inquiry. Through the examination of CCTV footage, the police identified vital clues about the criminals and the vehicle used in the crime. Subsequently, two suspects, Ramakant alias Rambhau Shahu (27) and Narendra alias Bali Bokde (23), were apprehended. During interrogation, the accused reportedly confessed to three burglaries and four vehicle thefts. The police successfully recovered stolen items and three vehicles, totaling Rs9.53 lakh. It was revealed that the accused were substance abusers engaging in criminal activities to support their addictions. Additionally, Ramakant is wanted in connection with two burglary cases at Kalamna police station. In a separate incident, crime branch unit 5 also apprehended three individuals - Akash Nagrale (27), Yogesh Chavhan (25), and Devendra Thakre (24) - solving two vehicle theft cases. The arrests were made with the assistance of CCTV footage and intelligence gathered on the ground.Two stolen vehicles, along with the bike used in the crime, with a combined value of Rs1.20 lakh, have been recovered. It has been reported that a majority of vehicle thefts take place in busy or market areas of the city. Additionally, most burglaries occur on the outskirts, falling under the jurisdiction of police stations such as Hudkeshwar, Wathoda, Pratap Nagar, and others. Local residents have requested increased night patrols by the police to prevent such incidents. The police have advised citizens to inform their neighbors and respective police stations if they plan to leave the city, so that authorities and locals can keep a watchful eye on their properties.
